Minutes of the Executive Committee
9 October 2008

1.  The ExCom met on 9 October 2008.  The meeting was convened at
approximately 1130 hours at The Landings Club, DAFB, Dover, DE.

2.  Members present:  BG Workman, Col Schwab, COL Testerman, and MAJ
Kemp.  Others present:  BG Watson and LTC Fountain.

3.  Minutes of the 11 September 08 meeting.  MAJ Kemp moved to approve the
minutes, seconded by Col Schwab, the motion passed.

4.  Treasurer and Membership Report.  MAJ Kemp reported $1,001.68 in
checking, $5.00 in savings and $10,182.77 in the Vanguard Investment Account.
He noted that the account has dropped in value from $12,126.61 on 12/31/07 to
$10,182.77 on 9/30/08.  MAJ Kemp suggested that we not make any large
donations until the market improves and the account balance again starts to
climb.  He reported membership at 165 Life, 71 Annual, 1 Honorary and 11 Free
First Year Members

5.  Spouses Night Dinner.  COL Testerman distributed a list of attendees, which
included 28 members and spouses.  BrigGen Wiggins is to be the guest
speaker. Col Powell is furnishing corsages again this year and has ordered
enough to take care of a last minute reservation.  MAJ Kemp is to confirm our
contract with the catering office.

6.  261 Sig Bde Deployment Ceremony.  All went well with many people present
signing our banner for display in the 261 Sig Bde Orderly Room.  All previous
commanders of the 261 st were in attendance at the Deployment Ceremony.

The Banner Committee (BG Watson, BG Workman & LTC Fountain) decided that
a table skirt would be appropriate to help people find the banner to sign it.  BG
Watson reported a cost overrun of $166.72 for the banner and skirt.  BG Workman
moved to cover the additional cost of $166.72, seconded by Col Schwab, the
motion passed.

7. Night at the Races.  The event was enjoyable although only a small number of
members attended.  BG Watson brought the banner for those present to sign.
MAJ Kemp suggested that we should try to get the picture of the presentation in
the newspaper for some publicity for DNGROA.

8.  2009 Annual Meeting.  Col Schwab moved to have the 2009 Annual Meeting at
the picnic, seconded by BG Workman, the motion passed. There was a
considerable amount of discussion regarding where the picnic might be held if it
could no longer be held at the Butterworths.  One suggestion was the Pizzadili
Vineyard in Felton.  We would have to work out the cost and what would be
furnished by Pizzadili.  BrigGen Butterworth has expressed a desire to have the
picnic at his place through the 20th year.

9.  Old business.  There had been some discussion after the last meeting
regarding finding a different place to have the ExCom meetings.  It was decided
by consensus to have the next meeting at the Eagle Creek Golf Course
Clubhouse.  MAJ Kemp is to look into a restaurant in the local area that might
accommodate our needs for meetings.  LTC Fountain asked about membership
packets for new retirees.  Some of those present expressed the opinion that there
was no central out procession for Guardsmen especially M-Day Guardsmen.
COL Testerman has received an e-mail from the TAG office about an M-Day
Retirement Briefing on 1 Nov 08 from 0800 to 1130 hours.  BG Watson reported
over $400 in contribution to the USO at Landstuhl Center.

10. New business.  BG Watson asked to be on the agenda of the Spouses’ Night
Dinner to brief on the USO at Landstuhl Center.

11. The agenda being complete, the meeting adjourned at approximately 1230
hours.
